Governance and Corporate Assurance Officer

On behalf of our client, a Public Sector Organisation, we are seeking a Governance and Corporate Assurance Officer to join their Belfast based office.

This role has an entry level salary of £27,741 and as with Public Sector employment salary bands, you can expect this to rise to £32,234. This is based on a 37 hour week, and a great range of benefits including: 22 days annual leave plus 13 statutory days, on-job training, a contributory pension scheme, a health cash plan which can provide help with dental, optician and medical costs (including cover for dependent children in full time education up to 18 years of age), a monthly car allowance, free employee health checks and a Cycle to Work scheme. Flexibility regarding working hours is also offered in some areas of the business.

The Governance and Corporate Assurance Officer will provide support and assistance to the sections of the Corporate Assurance Department responsible for quality systems, governance, compliance, research, communication, benchmarking, performance monitoring, Subject Access Requests and Section 75 Equality and contribute to the professional delivery of Corporate Services, in line with the business plan.

Examples of duties include:

1. Participate in the research, development and review of policies, processes and business systems ensuring the knowledge and learning is shared within the team for continuous development and to drive improvements.

2. Provide advice and guidance to Directorates in relation to quality systems and ensure compliance with organisational, legislative and best practice requirements.

3. Assist in managing the preparation and review of performance measures in completion of the monthly performance scorecard.

4. Provide assistance, advice and coaching across the business on aspects of quality, policy and practice within the Association’s Single Quality Strategy.

5. Support directorates to audit all existing quality systems and ensure compliance with relevant standards e.g., ISO, Customer Service Excellence, House mark etc.

6. Co-ordinate the identification and research of areas of best practice, suggesting options and new processes, procedures and policies as and when required.

7. Support additional compliance activities across the Association to include ISO9001 activities as required, including participating in external quality audits in support of ISO certification.

8. Support the management of QMS documentation.

9. Develop and implement information governance standards and support compliance with current legislation, including providing advice on information issues.

10. Promote a Data Governance Strategy and supporting Policies, ensuring buy-in across a large scale and diverse organisation.

11. Maintain a record of all data protection and equality policies and procedures as well as acting as the central point for coordinating updates and amendments.

You will need:

·A third level qualification including at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C (including English and Maths) and at least 2 years’ recent experience in governance and / or corporate assurance and / or equality.


At least 5 years’ recent experience (in last 8 years) of governance and / or corporate assurance and / or equality.


·Demonstrable knowledge of quality systems and / or audit practices:

• The ability to produce accurate and well-presented documents using MS office packages.

• Demonstrable experience of working in an environment regulated by set working policies and procedures.

• Strong administration and organisational skills with experience of coordinating activities.

• Experience of facilities management.


·Excellent level of IT literacy with demonstrable experience of Microsoft Office, to include word processing experience and experience in the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets including the production of graphs, charts and pivot tables.

·A current full driving licence and access to a suitable form of transport*
