Connections Charges Analyst

Salary: £25-36K plus bonus and benefits

On behalf of our client, a top Northern Ireland Organisation, we are seeking to recruit a Connections Charges Analyst to cover a 2 year fixed term contract in their Belfast based offices.

This organisation operate in an ever-changing industry, with increasing expectations and this brings with it real opportunities and challenges. The Connection Charges Analyst role is focused on monitoring the cost base, maintaining the published statement of charges for connections and maintenance of the database of rates within the estimating system. Your ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, particularly those which have a greater impact on the business is essential.

Essential Criteria:


  • Proven substantial experience and track record operating within a similar environment demonstrating your ability to meet the demands of this role.

  • Proven extensive experience of monitoring costs in a commercial environment and taking responsibility for setting prices that ensure the commercial success of the business.

  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel including lookups, pivot tables, and various mathematical formulas.

  • Proven ability to produce fact-based and insightful data analysis that informs colleagues about their contribution to the success of the business and enables managers to plan future strategies.

  • Demonstrate the ability to be able to positively influence safety behaviors and establish a safety value.

  • Can-Do, solutions focused attitude.

  • Leadership style that sets an example and encourages collaborative team work.

  • Communicates effectively to build relationships with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders.

  • Understands the importance of being responsive and helpful to customer needs.

  • Continually seeking ways to improve, adapt and innovate while meeting compliance and commercial requirements.

    Desirable Criteria:


  • A third level qualification in Electrical Engineering or Business Administration.

The post holder can expect a salary £25 and 36K depending on level of experience plus a benefits package to include:

  • Free Parking

  • 37 hours per week – start and finish times can be agreed locally

  • The individual will be placed onto a Personal Contract and have the opportunity to access private health care

  • Entitled to participate in a performance related bonus scheme, with a bonus up to a maximum of 10%

  • Annual Leave entitlement 20 days plus public holidays.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure our estimating team, customers and other stakeholders understand the charging mechanisms.

  • Contribute towards a team culture of sharing information and knowledge where there is a focus on solving issues with a "can-do” attitude and removing barriers to success.

  • Contribute to increased commercial awareness across the Connections business through sharing knowledge and increasing awareness of how individuals can contribute to the financial performance of the business.

  • Work productively with estimators, designers, pre-construction planners, and procurement colleagues to review cost elements and identify those that need to be updated.

  • Main point of contact for commercial information relating to our cost base, the charging mechanism and the maintenance of rates within the pricing system.

  • Strategically develop, implement and monitor commercially compliant processes and practices that adapt to changing demands and needs to the customers.

  • Contribute to the development of a customer centric approach within the Connections business, whereby customers understand clearly what they are paying for.

  • Ensure that commercial models are constantly reviewed to ensure that charges for connections offer value for money to the customers.

  • Respond to colleague or customer request for information in a positive, proactive and timely manner through appropriate channels.

  • Ensure that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations.

  • Strive to provide high levels of customer satisfaction regarding clarity and consistency of charges.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of practices that improve the Connections team commercial awareness and capability, including the ability to adapt to changing demands and needs.

  • Adopt a Continuous Improvement approach to processes and practices to deliver an innovative and agile commercial performance service.

  • Ensure the Connections team is aware of pricing issues that impact commercial performance and information is shared so that performance improvement can be achieved together as a team.

  • Monitor and analyse actual costs against the company forecasted costs in order to react to changing market conditions, or to minimise inaccuracies with the pricing systems.

  • Support colleagues within the wider business to complete their tasks, such as the preparation of budgets, periodic reviews, and audits.

  • Work with other areas of the business to develop KPIs that communicate and inform, helping managers with continuous improvement and business excellence.
