We are looking for an experienced Claims Manager on behalf of our public sector client based in the Greater Belfast Area.

Job Summary:

The Claims manager will have responsibility for a number of key functions within the Finance Office, including the supervision of a small team administering claims for payments to Stakeholders’ and their staff.  The post-holder will also be responsible for dealing with first line compliance issues as they arise, for assisting in the monthly internal reporting process and assisting in budget management.  The post holder will also assist the Senior Accountant with the preparation of the Interim and Annual Report and Resource Accounts.

Job Description:

The main duties / responsibilities of the post include:

  • Management of Claims team;
  • Management of the provision of invoice payment services to Stakeholders in line with the requirements of the (Salaries and Expenses) Determination (Northern Ireland) 2016 (as amended) and Financial Assistance for Political Parties Scheme 2016;
  • Provision of reliable, consistent, high quality, timely information and advice on compliance matters and on the administration of the Stakeholders financial support framework to both internal/external.  This involves being the initial point of contact for Stakeholders and their staff on any issue relating to financial support and liaising with the Compliance Officer as issues arise.
  • Management of the coding records within the computerised system to ensure that financial information is accurately recorded and reported;
  • Ensuring all audit and corporate governance requirements of the Organisation are maintained and updated accordingly;
  • Review of policy and guidance for Stakeholders as required to ensure that it represents best practice and reflects any changes in legislation;
  • Review of document management policies and privacy notices to ensure compliance with GDP regulations;
  • Any other duties as required and directed by the Senior Accountant.

Duration: End of May 2022

Hourly Rate: £19.32

Operational Hours: Mon – Fri (37 Hours per week)

Closing Date: 30th November 2021

Essential Criteria

  • Applicants must have successfully completed examinations and be a full current member of Accounting Technicians Ireland, or equivalent;
  • Have at least a minimum of one year's experience post qualification;
  • Applicants must have experience in providing an accounts payable service or supervising an accounts payable team;
  • Applicants should also have experience in planning and implementing a new policy to changes in legislation or best practice; and
  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate a level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Word. 


Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of delivering services to stakeholders within tight deadlines to meet statutory or organisational requirements;
  • Line management experience; and
  • Experience of writing reports for senior management.
